The full album, “Mines,” is goddamn incredible; I have become transfixed, standing in time at the command of this music. It’s quite good.

This is one of my absolute favorite pieces of media from the past half decade. I’ve synced/watched it at least four times, and have listened to the audio twice as many as that (most of those being flights, which I highly recommend after having watched it once). Quite simply, I think this is one of the best written pieces of modern comedy I’ve encountered.

“Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said today that music is “not compatible” with the values of the Islamic republic, and should not be practised or taught in the country.

In some of the most extreme comments by a senior regime figure since the 1979 revolution, Khamenei said: “Although music is halal, promoting and teaching it is not compatible with the highest values of the sacred regime of the Islamic Republic.”

Khamenei’s comments came in response to a request for a ruling by a 21-year-old follower of his, who was thinking of starting music lessons, but wanted to know if they were acceptable according to Islam, the semi-official Fars news agency reported. “It’s better that our dear youth spend their valuable time in learning science and essential and useful skills and fill their time with sport and healthy recreations instead of music,” he said.”

I deliver that comment from a vast bank of ignorance re: both Iran and Islamic values, but the music-slam in the third paragraph! This guy’s got a real turd in his punchbowl!

I’m not posting these for the purpose of derision (at least, I think I’m not…), I’ve just always found the theremin strangely compelling, the same way I find this individual strangely compelling. It’s metaphysically analogous to the way dog owners resemble their pets, only it’s this guy and a theremin. Again, not necessarily derision, just…slack jawed fascination?

Also want to put in there that, after blasting through a few of these, the theremin looks like a bitch to play. That’s probably what’s continually stopping me from deriding; base respect. (?)

“The Story of Hip-Hop” by The Books

The album tends to dip a little too far into “bullshit” sometimes, but there’s extensively astounding track for every Future Clav Steve Reich exercise. Plus, don’t nobody sound like the goddamn Books, homie!

When I first watched the pilot oh so many months past, I had relegated this show, shunned it, as a cheap cash-in on the success of Flapjack. But these episodes – they’re quite stellar! It’s got a different flow than the ‘Jack; if Marvelous Misadventures is the ego, Adventure Time is the id. What? I wedged that metaphor in as one would cheese (what?).

Anyways, Finn is not Flapjack, just as Jake isn’t K’nuckles, and that is perfectly wonderfully fine.

The show’s willingness to deploy “butt” as a vitriolic curse is also endearing.
